Police Officer Memorial

Week Picnic

The week of May 13-19 was Police Officer Memorial Week. In honor of the Athens-Clarke County police officers, the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association hosted a cook-out for the officers and their families on May 20 at Memorial Park.
Attendees enjoyed hotdogs with fixin's and cake. Mr. Clown (from Up and Away Balloons) was on hand to make balloon sculptures for children of all ages.
Some shared their lunch with the ducks.
Face (as well as arm and leg) painting was available.
Even Chief Lumpkin got "painted."

Citizen's Police Academy Honors Retiring K-9s

Two recently retired K9s and their handlers were recently honored by the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association. K9 Beni retired after 10 years of service. He will live with his handler SPO William Hood and his family. K9 Bono retired after 6 years of service and will live his handler SPO Ronnie Erwin. Each officer was presented with a plaque and each K9 was given a treat bag.
