Zone Boundary Descriptions ZONE 1: Bounded to the north, south, and west by the Athens-Clarke County/Oconee County line. Bounded to the east by the Middle Oconee River, southward to an imaginary line separating Westwood Hills and Holiday Estates subdivisions; continuing south to the Athens Perimeter and following same south to the Oconee County line. ZONES 2a and 2b: Bounded to the west by
the Zone 1 and Zone 3 eastern lines and to the east by an imaginary line
that runs parallel to the eastward side of U.S. Highway 441 to its intersection
with Sandy Creek and following same northward to Sandy Creek Park. It
then includes all of Sandy Creek Park to the Jackson County line. Bounded
to the south by the Athens Perimeter. 2a and 2b are divided by Jefferson
Road (west of Jefferson Road is 2a while East of Jefferson Road is 2b). ZONE 3: The northern most boundary is the Middle Oconee River; bounded on the west by an imaginary line separating Westwood Hills and Holiday Estates subdivisions to the Athens Perimeter, then following the perimeter southward to the Oconee County line; bounded southward by the Oconee County line which crosses the perimeter then follows McNutts Creek to the Middle Oconee; bounded to the east by the Middle Oconee River. ZONE 4: Beginning at the intersection of Hawthorne and Prince Avenues southward along Hawthorne Avenue to its intersection with Broad Street; west along Broad Street to the Middle Oconee River; north along the river to the Athens Perimeter; east along the Perimeter to the Prince Avenue intersection. ZONE 5: Beginning on Broad Street at the Middle Oconee River eastward to Milledge Avenue; south along Milledge Avenue to Springdale Street; west along Springdale then southwest along Bobbin Mill Road and continuing southwest along an imaginary line to the Middle Oconee River. ZONE 6: Bounded to the north by Springdale Street, Bobbin Mill Road and the imaginary line of Zone 5; bounded to the east by S. Milledge Avenue southward to the Will Hunter Road intersection and continuing northwestward along Will Hunter Road to the Middle Oconee River; northward along the river. ZONE 7: Beginning at the Athens Perimeter/Chase Street intersection, south along Chase Street to Prince Avenue; east along Prince to Milledge Avenue; south along Milledge to Broad Street; west along Broad to Hawthorne Avenue; north along Hawthorne to the Athens Perimeter; east along the Perimeter to the Chase Street intersection. ZONE 8: Bounded to the north by the Athens Perimeter; western boundary is Chase Street to Prince Avenue to Milledge Avenue to Broad Street. Bounded to the south by Broad Street eastward to the railroad tracks just east of Foundry Street; north along Thomas to North Avenue and continuing north to the Athens Perimeter. Zone 8 includes the Downtown District. ZONE 9: Beginning at the intersection of Broad Street and Milledge Avenue, east along Broad to Oconee Street; southeast along Oconee to Oak Street and continuing to Oconee Street to the Athens Perimeter; south along the Perimeter to College Station Road, east to River Road, south to Milledge Avenue; north along Milledge to Broad Street. ZONE 10: Beginning at the Athens-Clarke/Oconee County line, north along the Middle Oconee River to Will Hunter Road, northeast along Will Hunter Road to Milledge Ave., north to River Road, northeast along River Road to College Station Road intersection, west on College Station Road to the perimeter, north along the perimeter to Lexington Road intersection, east along Lexington Road to the Barnett Shoals Road intersection, southeast along Barnett Shoals to Gaines School Road; northeast along Gaines School to Cedar Shoals Drive; southeast along Cedar Shoals to Whit Davis Road; north along Whit Davis to Plantation Drive to Homestead to Old Lexington Road and continuing to Lexington Road to the Oglethorpe County line. ZONE 11: Bounded to the north and to the east by the Athens Perimeter. Western boundaries are North Avenue to Thomas Street to Broad and Oconee Streets' intersection; continuing east along Oconee to Oak Street to Oconee Street at its intersection with the Perimeter. ZONE 12: Southern boundary is the Athens Perimeter. Bounded to the east by U.S. Highway 29 north to the Madison County line. Bounded to the west by U.S. Highway 441 to its intersection with Sandy Creek and continuing north along same to the Jackson County line. ZONE 13: Western boundaries are U.S. Highway 29 north and the Athens Perimeter southward to the Lexington Road intersection. Southern boundary is Lexington Road eastward to the Oglethorpe County line. Zone 13 includes the City of Winterville. ZONE 14: Northern boundary is Lexington Road from its intersection with the Athens Perimeter eastward to the Old Lexington Road intersection. Southern boundary is the same northern most boundary line of Zone 10. |
