Award Given by Governor's Office of Highway Safety

Mr. Ricky Rich of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety recently presented the Athens-Clarke County Police Department with an award for the department's participation in the "Click It or Ticket" seatbelt/child restraint use campaign which was conducted during the 2004 Memorial Day weekend. Officers with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department issued a total of 1,715 citations including 312 seatbelt violations, 55 DUI arrests, 40 child restraint violations, 534 speeding violations, and one drug arrest.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department would like to remind everyone to drive safely and remember to use your seatbelts when travelling to and from your destinations.
