ACCPD News Employees
of the Quarter, First Quarter of 2002
Athens, 6, June, 2002 -- Officer Jeff Parker was selected Sworn Employee of the Quarter for January-February-March 2002. The civilian Employee of the Quarter was Communications Supervisor Keith Kelley. Officer Jeff Parker was commended for his work while conducting a safety check on February 2, 2002. The safety check was a result of recent complaints of drug activity at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway and College Avenue. During thiis safety check, Officer Parker checked a vehicle where the driver could not produce a driver's license. Further investigation revealed that the driver had outstanding warrants for failure to pay child support. Officer Parker then searched the vehicle incident to arrest which resulted in a seizure of $9,400.00 in cash and 118 grams of crack cocaine. As a result of this seizure, the offender is facing federal indictment on multiple charges. Communications Supervisor Keith Kelley was recognized for his dedication to his job and excellent attendance record. Keith Kelley is dependable and willing to assist in whatever capacity needed. Assistant Chief Mark Wallace presented each with a plaque and expressed appreciation for their dedication and hard work. |
