Rotary Club Names Officer of the Year

Detective Chuck Ivey was honored by the Athens Rotary Club as their Sherm Applebaum Officer of the Year for 2002.

Detective Ivey was selected for his work in the Domestic Violence Investigations Unit. Since being assigned to the unit in 1997, he has investigated at least 1,500 cases of assault, rape, battery, murder, and child abuse. During these years he has been responsible for putting dozens of abusive, violent criminals in prison. His calm demeanor and sensitive ability to communicate with the most traumatized women and children allows him to earn the trust and cooperation that is essential for successful arrest and prosecution.
