Employees of the Quarter

The Police Department announces the sworn and civilian employees for July - August - September 2003.

Senior Police Officer Phil Basinger was chosen for his initiative in developing a plan to stem street corner drug sales in identified areas. The plan involved plain-clothes officers attempting to purchase drugs. These officers made a number of purchases that led to the arrest of five adults. As a result of this detail, search warrants were issued and served at the locations. Patrol officers assigned to the areas reported a reduction in drug activity.

Civilian Employee of the Quarter was Records Technician Walter Whitehead who was selected for his willingness to assist and fulfill the needs and requests of internal and external customers while maintaining a friendly, helpful and professional demeanor. His knowledge of departmental operations helps him direct customers to the requested/needed resources. He is adaptable and overcomes adversities as they arise to provide a positive outcome. His spontaneous wit and humor provide a positive boost to the morale and overall mood of the unit.

Major Alan Brown presented each with a plaque and expressed his appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
