October- December 2006
Civilian Employee of the Quarter -Communications Officer Kenya Campbell - On November 17, 2006, CO Campbell was monitoring the downtown surveillance cameras. There were large crowds on Broad Street at Lumpkin Street. She saw several situations that, if left alone, could have developed into major incidents. Due to her proactive approach she was able to have units dispatched to take control of the situations before they became unmanageable. She was commended for her dedication to duty. Sworn Employee of the Quarter and Year - Sergeant Justin Gregory - In preparation for Fall 2006 In-service training, he researched, planned, and created the capability to conduct live-fire use of force decision-making training at the ACCPD range facility. His efforts included writing, filming, and editing numerous projected scenarios that mimicked real world police encounters and calls for service. Utilizing a lap-top computer and a digital projector, the training he developed allowed officers to make complex judgements regarding appropriate use of force options, from verbal commands to lethal force, all under the critical eye of a firearms trainer, while doing so in a safe environment. His efforts gave ACCPD a technological training capability similar to that provided by complex systems that can cost more than $50,000, for a tiny fraction of that cost. Innumerable employees commented on the effectiveness of this training after attending the course. His innovative efforts are to be commended, and clearly display a level of dedication to duty of which the entire agency can be proud. Civilian Employee of the Year - Human Resources Technician Tina Maisonet - She is the "go to" person within the department.
This reflects the wide range of diversity within her job responsibilities.
Her informal range of expertise has developed over her 23 years of experience
as an ACCPD employee. The cornerstone of her effectiveness is her good
attitude when helping anyone with a question. When personnel or family
members are sick, she looks after them; when we lose members of our
immediate or extended families, she expresses our condolences. She is
dedicated to the mission and people of ACCPD. |
