Citizen Police Academy Graduation

Chief Joseph H. Lumpkin, Sr., announces the graduation of participants in the 18th session of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy on November 20 at Trumps. Graduates were Hannah Anderson, James Chafin, Beverly Copeland, Bob Glodich, Mike Hembree, Hollis Johnson, Rachel Magnuson, Doris Smith, and Ervin Smith.



Graduation was the culmination of a 12-week course. Classes, which were held one night each week for three hours, included instruction on topics such as patrol functions, criminal investigation, communication and 911, crime prevention, and many other functions of the police department.

The next session will begin Thursday, January 17, 2008, at 6:15 p.m. Applicants must live or work in Athens-Clarke County, be at least 18 years of age, and pass a criminal background check.
