Athens, 20 July 2001 -- Lieutenant Reginald Wade of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department received the Veterans of Foreign Wars Officer of the Year Award. Lt. Wade was awarded for his outstanding service to his country (Master Sergeant) and community (Police Lieutenant). As a Master Sergeant in the US Army Reserves, he is responsible for Military police training for the state of GA (state coordinator) and he is currently in charge of the Athens-Clarke County Police Dept. Internal Affairs Investigations. He is also responsible for managing the recruitment and hiring process for police officers. Additional duties consist of Honor / Color Guard commander, certified police instructor for the State of Georgia, and he is also a certified Verbal Judo Instructor. Lt. Wade is also on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Athens and has been for several years. Lt. Wade's outstanding performance of duty has made significant contributions to the Athens-Clarke Police Department throughout the year. |
