Citizen Police Academy Graduation

Chief Joseph H. Lumpkin, Sr., announces the graduation of participants in the 19th session of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy on April 10, 2008 at Trumps. Graduates were James Alberts, Patricia Anglin, France Boney, Peggy Buchholz, Nancy Canolty, Beverly Chalk, John Clendenin, Heather Hogan, Sissy Lester, Sunita Singh, Brad Suddeth, Julie Thaxton, Raymond Thaxton, and Lauren Williams with Major Mark Sizemore, Captain Dan Silk, and Chief Joseph Lumpkin (not pictured Grace Rabek and Lisa Wilson)

Graduation was the culmination of a 12-week course. Classes, which were held one night each week for three hours, included instruction on topics such as patrol functions, criminal investigation, communication and 911, crime prevention, and many other functions of the police department.

Applicants must live or work in Athens-Clarke County, be at least 18 years of age, and pass a criminal background check.
