On Friday, January 31, 2009, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department Weed and Seed, Hancock Community Development Corporation, The University of Georgia, and Goodwill of North Georgia will host National EITC Day at Greater Bethel AME Church, 140 Rose Street, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EITC Day is a national day to provide general information about Earned Income Tax Credit, which is the single largest federal aid program for working families. Last year, 20 million Americans earned $1,782 each on average. The event will be syndicated live from WXAG Radio Station with live entertainment and a visit from several Internal Revenue Service representatives from the Atlanta Territory Office. Free tax preparation services and free groceries will be provided. Free tax assistance will continue to be provided at Hancock Community Development Corporation, 300 Henderson Ext. in Athens, Georgia. |
